Technical Support
Integrated Logistics
Our experienced ILS practitioners deliver
support to multinational programmes with complex integrated
capabilities. Examples include our delivery of support to the MoD
Attack Helicopter Capability Sustainment Programme with the development
of the Support Solution Strategy and planning documents for the Attack
Helicopter Capability Sustainment Programme Main Gate Business Case
submission. The result was the successful delivery of essential advice,
guidance, products and evidence for the equipment support solution
assurance and acceptance within challenging time frames. Another
example of our recent work was the delivery of support to Future Anti
Surface Guided Weapon (FASGW) MoD Delivery Team where we provided
supportability engineering advice and guidance for Main Gate approval.
The FASGW Programme was a commercially complex programme with 5
projects delivered across 4 Industry suppliers under separate and unique
contracts.
Whether delivering discrete ILS
products/activities or an outcome against the support requirements, we
recognise the importance of maintaining currency within Integrated
Logistic Support and Supportability Engineering. Our ILS Consultants
maintain contact and engagement with the DE&S ILS Policy and Support
Solutions Improvement Teams to ensure the support is not only compliant
with the current policies and processes, but with an awareness of
future strategies.
Our business processes underpin our approach to ILS and are fully embedded within our ISO 9001-2015 AS 9100 Rev D accredited Business Management Systems.

Risk
AS9100 standards require rigorous establishment, implementation, and maintenance of a process for managing risk which include: establishing responsibilities for risk management, defining risk criteria, detailed assessment, communication of risks, and careful and appropriate implementation of actions to mitigate risks.
We adopt a comprehensive holistic approach to ‘Risk, Issues and Opportunities Management, with its roots cemented in our Business Management Systems processes and procedures that are certified and considered ‘best practice’ under AS9100D Aerospace Standards.
Our long term contracted position as the Independent Technical Evaluator for the F35B Lightning programme is a key example in testing our rigorous Risk Management framework. Furthermore, our Risk Management Procedures require the establishment of Risk Severity bands – High, Medium and Low, and risk scores which not only determine the severity of individual risks but also determine the risk priority, with a view to the level of risk mitigation or ‘trade-offs’.
We have the necessary experience and track record to identify your risks and establish a framework to manage risks through life.
Our highly experienced suitably qualified & experienced consultants can support you in the following example areas:
- Development of Safety Management Plans
- Development and maintenance of effective Safety Management Systems (SMS)
- Safety Case Development
- Operating Safety Case Support
- Development of safety process and procedure for Acquisition and In-service Platforms equipment and services
- Safety Risk Assessment and As Low As Reasonably Practicable (ALARP) recommendations in accordance with the relevant regulatory policy
- Review of aircraft loss models (Aircraft Safety and Assessment Model (ASAM)), using FaultTree+ software
AR conducted a full scale Birdstrike test (in conjunction with our partner test house) on Chinook windshields. The windshields on RAF Chinooks were not subjected to Birdstrike testing during qualification and the ability to sustain impacts in line with certification requirements was unquantified. As a result, Aviation Requirements tested, characterised and recorded through high speed photography and video, Birdstrike damage in line with Def Stan 00-970 Part 7 requirements. The results and advice provided by Aviation Requirements enabled the Chinook Type Airworthiness Authority to quantify the risk and update the Safety Case Reports, Hazard Logs, Loss Model and Risk Register.
